UPDATE
As I’ve been staying with the missionaries here and helping with cut, tie, count, and organize materials for camp, I learned that we were going to have 38 kids at camp who escaped from the Ukraine attending our English camp!
Many of them came with their mothers while their fathers are fighting at the front. Some don’t have either of their parents with them and don’t know where they are. Some lost brothers, uncles, and other family members. One group is an entire orphanage that escaped together to Austria!!!
We begin training with all the cabin leaders starts tomorrow and the trainers plan to prepare us as best as they can how to teach the English lessons and activities, but even with how to deal with those that may struggle with PTSD or other effects of the trauma some of them may have gone through.
While staying here at the apartment, I saw they had a guitar hanging on the wall so I asked if I could play it. Did I know how to play? Have I lead worship before? Would I be willing to lead at camp? it turns out they didn’t have anyone to lead worship at the Pfons camp and weren’t sure what they were going to do. They have people who are willing to accompany, but not lead.
And that’s how I ended up as a worship leader at an English camp in Austria. I never thought that would happen.
I’m excited to be able to serve them with worship as best as I can.
God knows what He’s doing.
PRAYER REQUESTS
The Ukrainian kids have been uprooted and have had to adjust to a lot of changes in their life. Please pray that camp would be a fun and safe place for them. That this would be an opportunity for them to experience the peace of Jesus even in the midst of such turmoil.
Please be praying that we would be lead by the Holy Spirit in everything we say and do. May we be the arms and feet of Jesus to all the kids at camp.
