Project Searchlight

I’m sure some of you have been getting whiplash from all the traveling I’ve been doing. One minute in Nebraska, then California, Michigan, and then ending up in Georgia where it all started a year ago.

I went to Georgia for a gathering called Project Searchlight (PSL). After you’ve been home from the race for a month, they invite you back to encourage you with speakers, practical breakouts, great food (thanks, Elva!), and the opportunity to see your squad mates again. I couldn’t very well pass up that opportunity now, could I?

Also, it gave me the chance to celebrate my birthday with some of my best friends and ministry partners. They gave me twenty-seven words of affirmation for my twenty-seventh birthday, cards, candy, watercolors…It was a great way to start a new year of life!

Amidst the celebrations, I was reminded that just because we were back in the States that doesn’t change what Jesus commanded us with the Great Commission.

Matthew 28:18-20
“And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.’”

Michigan

The other day I found a business I wanted to go check out. When I got there the owners basically poured out their hearts and everything that was going on. Business was bad. Finances were bad. Everything was bad.

When I was chatting with them, I discovered they knew about Jesus, but when I asked them if I could pray for them, they said no.

I didn’t push it, but out of all the people I knew that needed prayer, this was the couple that did. People have forgotten the power of prayer. I thanked them for their time and left.

It was that simple and it didn’t even hurt!

“Missions isn’t different in America. We are different in America. We are an offended culture. We are afraid of being rejected and we are scared of stepping on toes.”
–Teresa McMillan

Even though I’m back in the States, it doesn’t really change what I’m doing. I hope and pray that this encourages you to step out in faith. Get out of your comfort zone and share the gospel and offer to pray for people. Be a light in a dark place because you might be the last person they get to meet who gets to tell them about God’s love for them.

Luke 12:48b
“Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more.”

Thank You

I can’t say it enough, but thank you for everyone who has prayed for me on this journey, for donating, and reading my blogs. I plan to continue sharing what God is doing here in Michigan.

Just because I’m here doesn’t mean the adventure stops. My work isn’t done yet.
